This yogurt bark recipe is a super fast, easy, and delicious to make. It’s also something your kids can help create.
The other day I was looking through the fridge and noticed we had a few yogurts that were about to expire and I was thinking about what I could do with the different flavors. We had lime and coconut. So my 3-year-old daughter and I got out mix-ins and toppings and made yogurt bark.
Yogurt bark is the perfect easy and high-protein snack for you and your kids.
This recipe is perfect because you can use any kind of yogurt, mix-ins, and toppings you have on hand. Plus, your kids can help make it and each child can make their own version. Anytime you can get your child to help in the kitchen is a bonus. Kids learn to enjoy new foods by cooking and experimenting with them in a pressure-free and fun environment.
Tips for making the best yogurt bark:
- Use the highest fat yogurt you have on hand.
- Freeze it for 2-4 hours before cutting.
- Use honey or maple syrup to sweeten plain yogurt.
- Use Greek yogurt for the most protein and best consistency.
You can use different types of yogurt but the consistency might be less creamy. You can also let it freeze longer than 4 hours but the bark may get a little icy.I prefer to use flavored yogurt to try different types and versions, but you can use plain yogurt and add honey or maple syrup to sweeten it to your desired taste.
Ideas for Mix-ins and Toppings:
- Dried fruit (cherries, raisins, cranberries, pineapple)
- Fresh fruit (berries, pineapple, banana, mango, pomegranate)
- Nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts)
